Free Taleo ATS Resume Checker

Score your resume against how Taleo reads it — parsing, keywords, sections and formatting — in under 60 seconds. Free, no account.

Taleo is Oracle's long-running recruiting system, and it still sits behind many corporate, healthcare and public-sector careers sites. Oracle's newer system, Oracle Recruiting Cloud, is replacing it at many employers. Both read your resume to pre-fill the application, and both expect you to check what they filled in.

Uploading your resume…

73 /100

Your resume has a solid foundation but is missing several key ATS optimizations. Better keyword alignment and measured results will meaningfully boost your score.

Machine readability 13/15
Keyword coverage 12/20
Quantified results 5/15
Standard sections 10/12
Layout & formatting 9/12
Titles & dates 10/10

Missing quantified achievements: most bullets describe responsibilities, not results

Low keyword density for common industry terms in the target role

Clear chronological work history with start and end dates

The difference

What Taleo does differently

Large corporates, healthcare systems, government and retail: organisations whose HR systems were set up years ago and run on Oracle. Newer Oracle customers are usually on Oracle Recruiting Cloud instead.

How to tell it's Taleo: A taleo.net address means Taleo. An address on oraclecloud.com containing CandidateExperience means Oracle Recruiting Cloud.

  • Tables and multi-column layouts are the most common failure: lines from different columns get interleaved into one field.
  • Use conventional headings. "Work Experience" and "Education" are recognised; "My Journey" or "Career Highlights" may not be read as the experience section at all.
  • If the portal garbles your uploaded file, look for the option to paste your resume as plain text (see Oracle's documentation below). Plain text has no layout to misread.
  • Decorative bullet glyphs and special characters can come through as noise. Plain round bullets are safest.
  • Recruiters search Taleo by keyword, so using the posting's own wording for skills you have matters here.

The honest version

No tool, including this one, can see inside Taleo or predict a specific employer's configuration. What a checker can do, and what this one does, is read your resume the way any parser must and tell you what it could not extract. That is where nearly every avoidable rejection comes from.

What Taleo says, in its own words

  • Taleo career sites can offer a "Paste the resume" option on mobile. The system parses the pasted text and uses it to pre-populate the job application or candidate file. [1]
  • The pasted text is saved as a text file attached to your application and profile, and recruiters can open it like any other attachment. In other words, what you paste is what the recruiter can read. [1]
  • The paste option exists only where the employer has switched on "Resume pasting enabled" in its application flow, so not every Taleo site will show it. [1]

Taleo questions, answered

Yes. Many large employers still run it. Oracle's newer product is Oracle Recruiting Cloud, part of Oracle Cloud HCM, and many employers have moved to it.

No. Both are Oracle products, but Oracle Recruiting Cloud is the newer system. The resume advice is the same for both: a single column, standard headings, and text that can be selected.

Oracle does not publish a preference. A text-based file of either kind in a single column is the safe choice. If a Taleo portal visibly garbles your file, try the other format or the paste-as-text option where it is offered.

Because its parser pre-fills the form and leaves to you whatever it could not read with confidence. The fields you have to retype point to the parts of your resume the parser struggled with.

Employers can set up screening questions and requirements per job, and how they use them is invisible to you. Matching the posting's vocabulary for skills you genuinely have is the practical lever.
