Free Workable ATS Resume Checker

Score your resume against how Workable reads it — parsing, keywords, sections and formatting — in under 60 seconds. Free, no account.

Workable is a recruiting system used by small and mid-size companies in the US, the UK, Europe and beyond. Its application form can autofill from your resume, and employers can hand screening to the Workable Agent, which scores applicants against their criteria and may message you to fill gaps.

Uploading your resume…

73 /100

Your resume has a solid foundation but is missing several key ATS optimizations. Better keyword alignment and measured results will meaningfully boost your score.

Machine readability 13/15
Keyword coverage 12/20
Quantified results 5/15
Standard sections 10/12
Layout & formatting 9/12
Titles & dates 10/10

Missing quantified achievements: most bullets describe responsibilities, not results

Low keyword density for common industry terms in the target role

Clear chronological work history with start and end dates

The difference

What Workable does differently

Small and mid-size employers in many countries, often with one or two people doing all the hiring.

How to tell it's Workable: The application address is apply.workable.com followed by the company's name.

  • The resume field takes only .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .html and .odt files. A .txt or image resume will not go into it.
  • If the Workable Agent messages you about the job, answer it properly. It asks to fill gaps in your evidence, and your answers feed the score.
  • Put only one email address on the resume, the one you want to be contacted at, and check it for typos. Workable's own guidance asks for exactly that, because the parser copies it into your application.
  • Some Workable forms don't ask for a resume at all. Then the screening questions and any assessment carry the whole application.

The honest version

No tool, including this one, can see inside Workable's software or predict a specific employer's configuration. What a checker can do — and what this one does — is read your resume the way any parser must, and tell you what it could not extract. That is where nearly every avoidable rejection comes from.

From the source

What Workable says, in its own words

  • The resume field accepts .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .html and .odt files up to 5MB. Other file-upload questions accept a wider range of types, up to 20MB. [1]
  • Workable reads your resume to fill in the application form. For a correct read it asks for files up to 5 MB in .pdf, .doc, .docx, .odt or .rtf, text divided into clear sections in readable fonts, only the email you want the employer to use, few images, and no image-only or infographic resumes. [2]
  • Even if you fill in the form by hand, Workable parses an uploaded resume into the profile the employer reviews. [2]
  • Applicants for US jobs may be asked to fill in an EEO/OFCCP survey after the application. You get a confirmation email with your answers, and you can withdraw using the link at the bottom of it unless your application has already been considered. [3]
  • For your application status, Workable says to contact the hiring company directly. Workable can only help with technical issues. [4]
  • The Workable Agent can write screening questions, chat with candidates to fill in gaps, and score every applicant against the employer's criteria with written reasoning, producing a shortlist. [5]

Workable questions, answered

The resume field takes .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .html and .odt files up to 5MB. Other upload questions, such as a portfolio, take more types up to 20MB, but your resume belongs in the resume field so it gets parsed.

Contact the hiring company. Workable says it only provides the software and can help only with technical problems, so the employer is the one who knows where your application stands. Look for contact details in the job ad or reply to any personal email you received.

Employers can use the Workable Agent, which scores every applicant against their criteria with written reasoning and can chat with candidates to fill gaps. Make your evidence for the main requirements easy to find, and answer its questions fully.

Workable's own guidance points to the usual causes: unclear sections, hard-to-read fonts, too many images, an image-only or infographic resume, or several email addresses. A plain, single-column file with standard headings fixes most of them.

Yes, with the link at the bottom of your confirmation email, as long as the employer has not already considered your application. Applicants to jobs in the EEA, where GDPR applies, can withdraw at any time.
