- Screening questions (work authorisation, shift availability, minimum experience) can end an application before the resume is read. Answer them accurately; a wrong answer is not recoverable.
- Employers frequently search the parsed profile rather than the file, so anything the parser missed is hard to find.
- Give every role an explicit start and end date. Missing end dates show up as gaps in the parsed history.
- If your internal job title was unusual, add the common equivalent on the same line so a title search can find you.

- When you upload a resume, the system may fill some profile fields from it. iCIMS advises uploading your resume before completing the other fields, to get the most out of parsing. [1]
- After uploading, you are asked to review what was parsed and fill in anything required. That review screen is the moment to fix a misread field. [1]
- Email addresses containing accented characters (iCIMS's example is josé@email.com) are not supported. [1]
- Each employer's portal can look and behave differently; the steps and options depend on the company. [1]
- iCIMS lists "candidate ranking" among its AI features and says it can rank candidates on skills and experience. Whether a given employer uses it is not visible to you. [2]
